Overview:
The Buena Building Family Literacy Program (BBFL) in Buena supports the underlying belief that parents are the first teachers of our students. Equipped with the skills and knowledge to support their children, parents can make the difference in their achievement both academically and socially. This program provides parents of young children up to eight years old an active role in their child’s emergent literacy development.
BBFL serves a combination of parents and children at-risk due to poverty and limited English Language. English language learner classes, are offered through this program. The young children participate in developmentally appropriate literacy based instruction while their parents are in class. Together, the families participate in workshops that benefit the literacy development of the youngest child.
